Wildlife & Domestic Animals

Wildlife and domestic animals play a big part in the nature-rich community of Saugatuck Township. Whether you’re looking for a lost pet, wanting to adopt or foster a new one, or concerned about wildlife on your property, there are many resources at your disposal.

Allegan County Shelter

The shelter is operated by Wishbone Pet Rescue. Their mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering of homeless pets by providing shelter and veterinary care, and to ultimately secure permanent, loving homes for animals in need.

Experience a variety of adoptable pets at Allegan County Shelter, spanning cats, dogs, reptiles, and rabbits. Appointments required for meet-and-greets, with occasional reduced-rate adoption events. Interested in temporary care? Become a foster to aid animals in need.

Wildlife Rehab Center

The Wildlife Rehab Center is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Formed in 2002, the center is an an independent, nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to offering the West Michigan area a reliable, high-quality resource for the rehabilitation of orphaned, abandoned, injured, or incapacitated wildlife.

If you find injured wildlife, the center will help you:

  • Step 1: Identify your animal
  • Step 2: Determine if it needs rescue
  • Step 3: Set up an appointment

If you would like to help out the center, you can donate, volunteer or take part in fundraising events.
