Roads in Saugatuck Township are under the jurisdiction of the Allegan County Road Commission.  Township roads are classified as major, minor and private roads.  Maintenance and improvements to major roads are determined by the Road Commission.  The Township manages improvements to minor roads with funding provided by two voter-approved millages.

Saugatuck Township is located in Area 1 of the Allegan County Road Commission jurisdiction and consist of a total 54.11 miles of roads, 21.02 miles of primary roads and 32.99 miles of local roads.

Allegan County Road Commission is responsible for the snow removal, grading of gravel roads, repair and general maintenance of the county roadways in Saugatuck Township as well as placement and upkeep of all roadway signs. They design, engineer and contract all roadway improvements.

Saugatuck Township maintains a multi-year plan for maintenance and improvement of local roads to ensure high quality and maximization of road life-span.
