Blue Star Drain & Sidewalk
Blue Star Drain & Sidewalk
The Blue Star Drain & Sidewalk project is a preliminary plan to install sidewalks along the east side of Blue Star Highway, north of the Old Allegan Road intersection, in coordination with the proposed Blue Star Drain. The goal is to ensure that the drain design accommodates future pedestrian infrastructure, improving safety and accessibility.
Project Scope
The plan includes:
- ADA ramp installation at the northeast corner of the Old Allegan Road Roundabout
- Enclosing the roadside ditch from 3277 Blue Star Hwy to 3319 Blue Star Hwy
- Adding a mid-road pedestrian crossing with signage and lighting, plus ADA ramps on both sides of Blue Star Hwy
- Building a boardwalk over the stream north of Starlite Resort
- Installing a retaining wall south of North Street/134th Ave
- Adding an ADA ramp on the south side of North Street
This project will be implemented alongside the Blue Star Drain District construction, reducing costs and minimizing future disruptions to the area.
Pedestrian safety improvements along Blue Star Highway were highlighted in the Blue Star Corridor Safety Plan, and community input from public surveys and the Non-Motorized Infrastructure Master Plan identified sidewalks and safer crossings as top priorities.
Stay tuned for updates as planning progresses.
